Songs for Everyone

Everything we know about ourselves, our history, and how we relate to one and other is rooted in the sharing of experiences through stories.  It is how we learn, grow, and develop as individuals, and communities.  Stories are universal – as is Music.  Music is felt and treasured by every single being on this planet, and traditionally, has been a major conduit for the transmission of messages, thoughts, and feelings throughout the ages.

“Songs For Everyone,” a program focusing on musicians utilizing their craft as a medium for fostering positive change, is a space designed to inspire listeners via the sharing of amazing stories facilitated through Music.

Music inspires and inspiration creates music.

Show Host

Michael Averill

Wanderer….Philosopher….Fun Doctor…..This tradesman of sound was born to bring people together, to make light of a troubled day, and to administer a steady I.V. of positivity to the world. Since 2002, the Kelowna native’s rapid growth as a singer/songwriter transpired out of love and encouragement from his unbelievable family, friends, and open hearted strangers. He emerged in Vancouver, BC as an intriguing World Folk Fusion artist in 2004, and his magnetic melodies and warm demeanor have been dissolving woes and changing perspectives ever since.

Michael’s musical aim is to provide a space for people to feel apart of something, and to be excited about living the lives that inspire them.

Growing up in a world competitive athletics and a career in exercise physiology, Michael’s performance record often took shape along the sidelines of teammates races, in echoed training stairwells, or yoga studios when not on stage. It is from these motivating environments that he cultivated his uplifting character, and many can attest to the joy and insight his music has brought to them.

2011-2013 have been packed with three album releases that he self-produced:

What’s Life All About? (March 2012) Musical puzzle album

New Day, New Path, New Legend (January 2013) 5 song score for a documentary made from an expedition in Nepal Michael participated in (Beyond The Gates of Phu)

I’d Rather Walk (May 2013) Current project exploring Canada by foot

Michael has also toured nationally and internationally, including performances in France, Germany, Nepal, China, and around most corners of Canada. His current album “I’d Rather Walk,” is a tribute to his late singer/songwriter father, Garry Averill, and he is sharing both his and his father’s songs as he tours the country by foot. His goal with this endeavor is to build community through encouraging healthy lifestyles physically through walking, and mentally through open conversation about life, death, family, and communication. Where ever Michael roams, he fosters positive bonds and catalyzes growth among his eclectic/all age audiences.
