Aired September 30th-October 6th on Own Your Money with Jeffery A. Forrest and his guest Brett Dorren
Last week, I heard that by the time 2025 comes, 75% of the work force will be made up of Millennials. Every 9 seconds of every day for 18 years, another baby boomer will retire. UPS changed their entire training regime for their new drivers (Millennials) to be more “relevant” to how they learn, how they think and how they are trained!

When was the last time you had a “heart to heart” fireside chat with a Millennial? This am, I had the opportunity to “interview” an up and coming Millennial, by the name of Brett Dorren. I had the privilege of mentoring Brett, as a young Toastmaster, for the last few years. Today, he celebrated 15 months of being in the “real world” and having to work for a living vs. being a starving student.
Brett Dorren is a 2013 Materials Engineering Graduate of California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He has been described as an “old soul” trapped in a tall good looking young man’s body! At 23, Brett possesses a maturity, a vision and a life resolve that other Millennials would be served to mimic his way of being and his actions. As a Part Engineer, Part Entrepreneur, Part Visionary, but mainly a “take charge young man”, Brett has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and wisdom. While at Cal Poly, Brett started his own skateboard manufacturing company called “CruzBu”. Since that time, he has relocated his manufacturing facility to San Diego. Also while at Poly, he was hired by the Greek Society to give a series of informative lectures on “Sexual Assault Prevention”. During the last three years, Brett has been active in Club #83 Toastmasters Club and is an accomplished award winning speaker. Currently, Brett is employed by the world’s largest insurance company, AIG as a “Loss Prevention Engineer”. Recently he hung up his YOGA Mat in exchange for a 6’7″ surfboard and can be found at the beach on weekends hanging 10.
The value that Brett brings to the table for his millennial peers is admirable, helpful and encouraging. We need more young leaders like Brett to help solve some of the world’s most pressing problems!
